DIY/OOTD: My Christmas Dress

Hi Lovelies, I guess we’ve all been counting down to the Christmas day??? Let us not forget the reason for the season.

So this is what I wore today. The dress is actually not so very new because I made it a couple of weeks back but had waited for an occasion to rock it. As you all know, it is the red, white, green season so it seems I am just trying to keep to the rules.

I love simplicity so I’d styled this dress in a very simple way but then the look I have achieved here will be very ideal for a Christmas outing with family or friends.

At Every Year End.......

Every serious setup reviews its business activity by the end of every year and what does this do for them? It help them understand in entirety what they had achieved and then with the insight gathered they are able to plan for the coming year.

So personally, I review every year (usually in the last week of the year) – what I had achieved as it relates to my set goals/targets. With the understanding of the achievements I had made, I am able to set new goals for the coming year which I stick toSome people call it New Year resolution but I don’t like to call it that because I grew up seeing people not sticking to their new year resolutions and more.

DIY/OOTD: Adaamara:The Boot cut Ankara Pant........

So obviously our Ankara fabric can be used in creating any kind of style there is and even more. Days are gone when Ankara fabrics were most often associated to and worn by our mothers, grand mothers and newly married in some sort of very traditional and conservative styles. Today, Ankara fabrics are used to create pieces which are very contemporary and with great infusion of modernity, hence the reason Ankara fabrics are used in creating endless styles.

DIY/OOTD: The Multi-Colour Circle Designs Wide Leg Pant

Hi Lovelies, hope you had a fruitful day? Mine was good.

I made this wide leg pant about two weeks ago and I wore it for the first time today so I decided to post on my blog hoping that it could inspire you. I saw this Ankara fabric on one of my numerous visits to Lagos Island and I quickly jumped at it. I jumped at it because I like the bold multi coloured circles on it. I’d been looking for circle print fabric to use to sew a pant with the intentions to place the circles in vertical form from my thigh level to my toes. Here I have it! I patterned the pant to be high waist with wide band so it could look fab when tucked in.

DIY/OOTD: The Yellow A-Line Shift Dress

Hi Lovelies, hope you had a nice weekend and you are prepared for this week’s tasks? For me, my weekend was so fab, I had good rest, spent quality time with my family and then………guess what! I also spent some time with my sewing machine making garments for myself……….

The Front Slit Style that Trended Over The Weekend.

If you follow fashion trends you’ll always have stories to tell. Over the weekend, I’d spotted a style/trend that I can’t just keep quiet about and that is “the high front slit”. I’d spotted lots of celebrity rocking high front slits to different events and engagements over the weekend and you know what! I loveeee them.

Fab Outfits from AMAs 2016

The 44th American Music Awards 2016 which took place yesterday 20th of November 2016 at Microsoft Theater in LA could be describes as fabulous and entertaining. I see events like this as an opportunity to explore trending fashion and styles so what I look out for the most is the red carpets – for styles and fashion inspiration. This time white/ivory, red and black outfits took the center stage. Stars like Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, Ciara, Jenny, Taraji P. Henson, Ariana Grande and more looked stunning in their outfits😁.

My End of the Year Wish List,I Dare to Dream

DVF Large Haircalf and Leather Hobo bag
I think it’s not absurd for one to wish for a thing or more. For me when I wish for something I begin to work for it……..therefore the regular definition that one’s wish list “is a list of things one wants, but usually can’t afford” is not always right……  I’ve got some lovely stuffs on my wish list which I hope to share here, maybe you could get inspired and not wish like me but actually go for them.

DIY/OOTD: The Appliquéd Pleat Skirt

Hey Lovelies, hope you had a nice weekend ?

Today, I wore one of my pieces, the appliquĂ©d pleat skirt. In case you didn’t know, black and white are my best colours, so you’ll be seeing a number of my pieces and work in black and white. I got the fabric I used in making this skirt from Daviva shop, they’ve got plain fabrics in varied colours and in easy to sew texture. After making the skirt, it looked so plain and ordinary so I thought I should add some designs to it to highlight it.  So I made circle and square shapes using some leftover yellow and orange fabrics I’d used in making dresses in the past, then placed them in contrasting manner at the hem area of the skirt.

Style Idea: Clog For The Weekend

Click here to shop this Gucci Clog
Every fashion piece will always make a comeback and so does clog shoe. When I was a child – don’t ask me what year it was…….Lol, my mum had a few wooden-soled footwears which I liked so much. So when I was in the university, I’d got a wooden soled sling back shoes as a gift from one of my  aunties, I was so excited because as a child I liked clog shoes and wish to own one someday. The longevity of clog shoes is amazing, I’d used mine from my second year in the university to my final year.

At CMA 2016 Awards, Women Who Wear Black Live Colourful Life

Hi Lovelies how has your week been? Hope fruitful! Maybe a little hitched here and there but then never quit.

At the CMA 2016 Awards ladies slayed and you know what, the black trend which I’d spotted in some other topnotch Awards held this year, 2016 is even more prominent in CMA 2016 Awards. See my post on 2016 Red Carpet review here and here.

So there were pop of colours in colours like navy blue, pink, red and beige but a better percentage of ladies on the Red had rocked black.

See for yourself…………….

The Hand Painted Denims

Denim is always right!  This is how I feel something. But then you know that denims are acceptable in most work places and for different occasions. It can be rocked as casual outfit, small casual, sporty outfit, mixed and matched with Ankara and other print fabrics etc. Hey! You can go on and figure out more ways to rock denim by yourself. But the one that thrills me now is the hand painted denim which I have sported some time ago and had decided to ignore. But hey! It’s coming on stronger and stronger than I anticipated in Nigeria – it’s not a new trend around the world but then I am loving the way some of our celebs and fashionistas pulled theirs on during 2016 Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week(HLFDW).

My DIY: The Chevron Jumpsuit.

Hi Lovelies happy Monday. Hope you had a lovely weekend? As for me I did spend time with my family, they say “family is every thing” but again I had fun making a jumpsuit for myself. So I had bought this crepe fabric some months back from Lagos Island – the popular Central Mosque area and you know what, there are lots of lovely sample fabrics there. You could just take a stroll to see things for yourself.

MTV MAMA2016: See How The Ladies Slayed

MTV Africa Music Awards 2016 which took place in Johannesburg, South Africa this evening did not fall below expectation for me. So this year's red carpet presented the audience with lots of interesting and out-of-the- continent outfits like that of Khanyi Mbau’s, however, there were lots of amazing outfits on the red carpets representing Africa in her best form, Yemi Alade’s who happened to host the event alongside Bonang Matheb and Nomanzo Matheb.

Brandon Maxwell SS17: Simply Breathtaking

Every fashion designer has a role model(s) as well as elements or people who inspire them and my own case is never different. I first discovered Brandon Maxwell after Lady Gaga wore one of his piece to OSCARS 2016 held in February 2016. The pieces she had on so much appealed to me that I sort after the creator of the piece - alas the piece is Brandon Maxwell's, a name I’d never heard of. Out of curiosity, I went on to learn more about this brand and guess what, it’s been a whole source of inspiration for me.

Paris Fashion Week 2016: Some of My Fave Looks from The Street Style

Paris Fashion Week happens to be the last of the Big 4 fashion weeks for. As usual I have taken time to curate my favorite street style look. I love to focus somewhat on street style because for me it is good platform for fashion lovers; so trends are set on fashion week streets style showcase. If I am to compare Milan with Paris Street style, i'd be able to rock more of styles on Milan Street Style than that of Paris. However, these are some of my favorite picks from Paris street style.

My Favorite Designs from NYFW 2016

Brandon Maxwell Piece

This time,NYFW in my opinion rose to a higher pedestal, however I am sure lots of fashionista had expected this. I spotted lots of creativity and pops of colour on the runway. But then, amid so many designs on the runway, these are some of my favorites. Again, I observed that fur is strongly trending as I spotted lots of furs from different designers on the runway as well as on NYFW street style moments.

Style Idea: Same Colour Outfit

Colour combo can make or mar your entire look but good enough we are in an era where fashion has taken to being daring and an-out-of-this-world venture. Fashionistas are willing to break out of the norm and always try new things. For me, in mixing and matching colours I’ve been trying out the monochromatic colour combo on my casuals as well as cooperate outfits and it just so fabulous, soft and feminine! Monochrome can be very hard to pull on but so lovely when gotten right[monochrome means color combination that is comprised of just one color; same colour combo]. Hey lovely, try this style idea and you will probably achieve a-new-you-look, sure you’ll love it.

11 Boots For Your Cooperate Outfits

Jimmy Choo Memphis 100 [click here to shop]
“Simplicity according to Coco Chanel " the keynote of all true elegance". I love simple, less dramatic and less bright colored pieces hence the reason I would always go for clothing, shoes, bags and accessories in cool colours. However, due to the nature of my job, I've had to consciously acquire stuffs that are outside my colour and style personality; I am just trying to ensure I throw in some pop of colours and styles into my closet, which makes a good fashion sense for me anyways. Now If I’d wear boots, I’d go for cool colours, ankle and dressy high heel boots rather than the knee high or riding boots.

Still in the bid to keep my style unique and simple, I’d decided to try the Victorian Styles….mixing and matching to achieve an office look. Now I will share a bit about the “Victorian woman”. So the Victorian woman is that woman who’d existed during the Victorian era of the British history and the Victorian era was the period of the reign of Queen Victoria,1837 to 1901. This period had marked prosperity, peace, refined sensibility and self-confidence for Britain and these features reflected a great deal in the way the British dressed.

Smart Dress,Future of Fashion as defined by Ezra+Tuba in Collaboration with Intel.

Click to watch video Technology embedded into Fashion
It was fun and at same time a bit challenging coming up with this post. Reason being because I needed to research and read so many articles before I could come up with this brief article.

So what prompted my desire to know more about the future of fashion and technology was an e- book I read a few weeks ago which spoke so much about embedding technology into textile manufacturing as well as garment production etc. It got me thinking that if there are smart watches, wristband and other smart sport and medical wearables (click Smart Wearables to read more), then our regular fashion clothing could also go smart.

As at today, there are already fabrics or textiles that are smart enough to react to the wearer’s body temperature and mood by changing colour etc; some react to light, sounds and etc. A fabric said to be mosquito repellent has also been developed by a Gambia born Matilda Ceesay (Click Mosquitoes Repelling fabric to read more). Hope I'm not sounding too academic, what I have also tried to do is to drop as many links as possible so you could refer to these links and maybe read in details at your convenience. However, I wish to discuss the Ezra+Tuba and Intel collaboration which I found very fascinating. Ezra Cetin and Tuba Cetin are the owners of the innovative and cutting edge fashion label Ezra+Tuba and they have created a piece ornamented with butterflies which are not just decorative. These butterflies on the piece can react to external influence and can disperse en masse when triggered. So how does this work? Intel had implanted a sensor that controls the butterflies on the dress. This Ezra+Tuba dress is said to have been powered by a match box size Intel Edison Module. So you see I am sure we will be seeing more of this kind in the nearest feature and on the runway.......fascinating! Is it not?

Will Africans ever Embrace "See Through Trend" in this Manner.

Nicki Minaj at 2015 Video Music Awards
For a couple of years now "see through outfits" have been regularly worn on the red carpets by some celebs, so I kept asking myself the question, is “see through” a fashion trend? The answer I think is yes only that the “see-through-trend” is sure for a certain class of people, Celebs and or ordinary people who are desperately demanding for attention. Obviously, a lot of these people are willing to push the boundaries usually for the sake of making themselves center of attraction but the fact still remains that it take guts and I repeat guts to rock a “see through” outfit in the public place. I also spotted lots of "see through outfit" on the runway in some Spring Summer 2016 collections, so I anticipate "see through trend" being around maybe for a little longer.I have taken out time to curate an album of some celebs spotted on red carpets in “see through” pieces in the past two years.

Its Weekend!!: Just go Palazzo and You will be glad You did.

Print Palazzo with a beige poncho-like top paired with matching bag and sandals.
I love it when creativity is infused into a lady’s dress sense, so as much as every lady knowingly or unknowing has a visual style{distinct way of dressing), there is need for a touch of versatility in our day to day or season to season outfits.

Lady Gaga Looking Dapper in NYC Yesterday.

Lady Gaga at Tony Bennett 90th birthday party in NYC
Looking cool and more conservative in my opinion in recent pictures, I think Brandon Maxwell is doing a great job designing for Lady Gaga. By the way, Brandon Maxwell designed the lovely Ivory dress First Lady Michelle Obama wore to the State Dinner in honour of Singapore's PM Lee a couple of days ago. Brandon pieces are some worth classic and sure will be timeless, one of the reasons being because of his choice of colours ranging from ivory, white to black and so on.
Lady Gaga had worn one of Brandon’s pieces to Tony Bennett 90th birthday in NYC yesterday and I am so loving the custom black velvet dress.

First Lady Michelle's Fab Look at The White House State Dinner in Honor of Singapore's PM Lee Hsien Loong and His Wife

POTUS is sure proud of His Lady [ Photo Source:]
US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama hosted Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee and his wife for a state dinner at the White House. To cut the long story short, the First Lady Michelle Obama had brought the audience as well as the media spectators to a standstill in her Jackie Kennedy inspired Ivory dress made by an upcoming but big designer Brandon Maxwell. She looked so classy and elegant, and Brandon Maxwell who started of as a big shot designing for the likes of lady Gaga felt very proud and honored(as he expressed on his Instagram page) to have been given the opportunity to design FLOTUS dress for the occasion.
See for yourselves friends.
