Every fashion
designer has a role model(s) as well as elements or people who inspire them and
my own case is never different. I first discovered Brandon Maxwell after Lady
Gaga wore one of his piece to OSCARS 2016 held in February 2016. The pieces she
had on so much appealed to me that I sort after the creator of the piece - alas
the piece is Brandon Maxwell's, a name I’d never heard of. Out of curiosity, I
went on to learn more about this brand and guess what, it’s been a whole source
of inspiration for me.

Brandon Maxwell is pretty new, less than two years in
garment production but in my opinion he has achieved what some other fashion
designers I have studied about never achieved in over 5 years. Talking
about his pieces appealing to me, reasons are because he creates timeless and
ageless pieces. Trend is not a word I will like to associate Brandon Maxwell
with, his works are classic and this can be quickly seen in his choice of
colours – black, cream, ivory and the likes. He crafts his pieces in a manner
that promotes the femininity of the wearers by defining the shape of the wearer
in a subtle manner. I also see sophistication in his works hence the reason
world celebs like Lady Gaga, the First Lady Michelle Obama, Kate Hudson and a
lot more others are seen in his pieces. He keeps his piece simple yet very
sophisticated and elegant. Brandon Maxwell is a good definition of a great

Brandon Maxwell's work for
me reiterate the saying that “whatever is worth doing is worth doing well”. So
back to what had made me speak this long grammar, his Spring Summer 2017 is
simply breath taking, a collection I’ve had to watch over and over.
