Comfort and Self – Expression are Key to Me; The Ethnic Collection

Hi Lovelies! Trust the week has been fair on everyone.
In my last post, I shared pictures from The Unveil Fashion Show 2017, however I didn’t post photos of my pieces that were showcased at the even because I hadn’t gotten them from the photographer at that point.

I showcased a part of “The Ethnic Collection” at The Unveil 2017. The Ethnic Collection” [Ethnic by Ama Okoji] is a juxtaposition of classic and ethnic expression with infusion of modernity, having worked with Ankara and plain fabrics. The craft, art, embellishments and appliques on the pieces portray our diversified and rich African culture. I'd used this collection to show how beautiful, strong and enterprising an African woman is.

The collection tells an interesting story about a woman “the Ama woman”, she appears simple yet bold and daring with her styles. She seems not to be dramatic however she is not afraid of trying new things. Very conscious of how she looks, she loves outfits that flatter her body figure in a mild way, with so much attention to structure, fit and details. She is a woman who leads a balanced life; a socialite of some sort.

The 6 out outfit showcased at The Unveil 2017 is a collection that works “an Ama woman” round her life routine within her regular week; from her home to her work place and then social gatherings -  while bearing in mind that fashion should be all about wearing something comfortable and effortless but also making a statement.
