DIY Stripe Series 1 – The Ulu Gathered Appliqued Dress

Hi Lovelies! Trust your week has been good.
I talked about Stripe trend and what my take is on it. Rocked in very trendy, gorgeous yet simple way by fashionistas, I have put together a collection of stripe outfits which simply and visually represents my understanding and definition of stripe trend. What I am saying in effect is that if I’ll rock stripes, I’d rocked them in the styles I will be showing in this series.
I’d made this dress using a pin stripe fabric I bought from Lagos Island. I knew the style I wanted to make so it helped me chose specific fabrics for my styles. Some years back, one would not have thought that a pin stripe fabric could be used in sewing a dress – you know what I mean. But here it is and also as have been spotted on lots of bloggers like Monica of  awedbymonica.com, Mimi G  of mimigstyle.com, Shewa of  shewajay.com and lot more. I have got a lot of compliment on this dress that I wondered why. I had in mind making just a casual dress with this very pin stripe fabric which is what I did exactly; but it seems peeps like casual outfits….lol.

Styling the Outfit: I had gone for this sneakers from New Look and then my cross body bag from Shopmaju (I am so much in love with the bag). I had also tried out a wedge sandals on this dress but it seemed it didn’t sit as well as the sneakers.
